4 Dry Hair Vitamins You Need To Know

There are various types of vitamins for dry hair that can help moisturize and soften hair. This vitamin can be obtained from food, supplements, and various hair care products specifically for dry hair.

Dry hair vitamins are needed when the hair and scalp lose moisture. This problem can occur due to age, where the production of oil on the scalp naturally decreases.

In addition, dry hair can also occur because often styling hair with a heater, using hair care products made from harsh chemicals, or hair coloring habits.

Types of Dry Hair Vitamins
To overcome the problem of dry hair, there are several types of vitamins that can be used to restore hair moisture, namely:

1. Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a good nutrient for healthy hair and can prevent dry hair and hair loss. This vitamin works by creating a protective layer on the skin, including the scalp. It is this protective layer that keeps moisture in the scalp and restores your hair’s luster.

To overcome the problem of dry hair and hair loss, intake of vitamin E is needed from inside and outside the body. In addition to consuming food sources of vitamin E or supplements, you can use hair vitamin products that contain vitamin E.

Avocados and aloe vera are two natural ingredients that can help moisturize your hair and scalp. You can process it into a hair mask.

In addition, vitamin E oil, avocado oil, olive oil, coconut oil, and sunflower oil can also be an option. How to use is to rub the oil on the scalp and hair, massage gently, then let stand for 15 minutes. After that, wash your hair with shampoo.

2. Vitamin A
In addition to vitamin E, vitamin A can also be a nutritional choice for treating dry hair. Vitamin A helps the oil glands in the skin produce an oil called sebum. Sebum is useful to moisturize the scalp and help maintain healthy hair.

To meet your intake of vitamin A, you can consume food sources of vitamin A, such as carrots, tomatoes, spinach, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, yogurt, and eggs. If needed, you can also take vitamin A supplements.

Apart from food or supplements, hair lotion or hair serum containing vitamin A, can also be an option for dry hair treatment.

3. Biotin (vitamin B7)
Biotin is a type of B vitamin that is good for maintaining hair fertility. Biotin works by increasing the intake of oxygen and nutrients to the scalp and hair follicles, so the hair will be healthy, thick, and look shiny.

This dry hair vitamin you can get from several types of food, such as wheat, milk, cheese, eggs, peanuts, soybeans, chicken, spinach, and mushrooms.

Recommended intake of biotin is 30 micrograms per day. If taken as a hair vitamin, the recommended dosage is higher, which is around 2000 – 5000 micrograms (2-5 mg) per day.

As an external treatment, you can use hair care products, such as hair lotion or hair serum, with biotin content.

4. Vitamin C
Besides functioning as an antioxidant that protects hair cell damage from free radicals, vitamin C also helps strengthen hair roots. Vitamin C is an important nutrient that the body needs to produce collagen, which is a protein that forms cells for skin and hair.

Meet your daily vitamin C needs by consuming foods rich in this vitamin, such as oranges, guava, and papaya. If necessary, also consume vitamin C. supplements for external treatment, you can use hair care products with vitamin C.

In addition to vitamins, there are several other nutrients that can help maintain hair moisture and health, namely protein, omega-3 fatty acids, iron, selenium, and zinc. To get the best results, do a variety of dry hair care routinely.
