Azerbaijan: If you want a ceasefire, Armenia must apologize
Windowofworld.com – Azerbaijan made a ceasefire conditionality that Armenia was unlikely to accept. Baku asked for an apology, recognition of Karabakh as a territory of Azerbaijan and withdrawing all their troops in the region.
“They must commit to withdrawing troops from our territory. They must provide us with a timetable for withdrawing from the occupied territories,” Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev said in a statement, as reported by Al Arabiya on Monday (5/10/2020).
“Their prime minister, who said that Karabakh is Armenia, must now say that Karabakh is not Armenia. And after that, of course, we are ready to end hostilities and restore a ceasefire regime,” he continued.
Repeating the claim that Azerbaijan has captured a number of settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh, Aliyev vowed to keep fighting until the entire territory is recaptured.
“We managed to liberate some territories, several villages and today we liberated the city of Jabrayil, which was under Armenian occupation for 27 years. Our successful military operations continue, and we are fully determined to free our land and restore our territorial integrity, “he said.
