China Stressful US Military Activities in the SCS and the Taiwan Strait Increase
Windowofworld.com – The activity of US military ships and reconnaissance aircraft directed at China has increased significantly under President Joe Biden. This was revealed by a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Defense, Wu Qian.
For example, the US naval destroyer USS Mustin recently made close observations of the Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning and its battle groups.
“It seriously interferes with the training activities of the Chinese side and seriously threatens the safety of navigation and personnel on both sides,” Wu said as quoted by the AP, Friday (30/4/2021).
Wu said the ship was later warned to leave and a formal protest had been raised against the US.
Wu revealed that activity by US military ships rose by 205 and by aircraft 40% in areas claimed by China since Biden took office in January during the same period last year.
“The US frequently sends ships and planes to operate in seas and airspace near China, promoting regional militarization and threatening regional peace and stability,” Wu said at virtually every monthly briefing.
China routinely captures objects of US military presence in the South China Sea (SCS), which it claims almost in its entirety, as well as the passage of naval vessels through the Taiwan Strait.
Wu also blamed the movements for increased monitoring of Chinese aircraft movements by Taiwan.
“Attempts by the Taiwanese government to prevent what China sees as inevitable unification are like locusts trying to stop trains,” Wu said.
In an interview with Britain’s Sky News, Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu reiterated recent warnings that a military threat from China is growing through misinformation campaigns, hybrid warfare and gray zone activities.
“And all of this seems to be preparing for their final military offensive against Taiwan,” Wu told Sky.
“This is our country, this is our citizen and this is our way of life. We will defend ourselves in the end,” said Wu.
