Danger! Blue Light Gadgets Can Damage The Skin

Windowofworld.com – Humans and gadgets seem to have become one unit. As if they never got out of touch with gadgets, plus the pandemic period, which made many people more often associated with gadgets. Most people stay at home, work and study remotely, requiring them to use gadgets to make communication easier.

Some people may already know that lingering on gadgets is certainly not good. But did you know Beautynesians, the light generated by gadgets can also damage your skin?

Blue Light Gadget Damages Skin

So far, some people have been worried about the dangerous rays of television. However, it turns out that the light generated by the gadget is more dangerous because of the closer distance to use. You may not feel this blue light right away, but in the long run it will destroy collagen through oxidation.

Flavins or chemical compounds in the skin will easily absorb blue light exposure from gadgets. This reaction will then produce free radicals that can damage the skin.

Each gadget has a different exposure to blue light. As previously discussed, apart from distance, televisions expose less blue light than computers, and more cell phones due to their very close proximity.

More Dangerous for People of Color

In a 2010 study in The Journal of Investigative Dermatology, people of color had more problems with exposure to blue light which caused hyperpigmentation in people who had skin that was brown to dark in color compared to people with lighter skin tones.

Prevention and How to Overcome Skin Damage

One of the simplest, but difficult things to do to prevent skin damage due to blue light exposure is to regulate and limit the time to use gadgets. However, if it is necessary to use the gadget for a long time, make sure you activate night mode so that it creates a warmer screen tone.

Another support that will support the prevention of skin damage is replacing the standard LED on a cellphone with a version that has less blue light.

The use of sunscreens that are suitable for skin types is also a good suggestion to prevent and treat skin damage. The content of titanium oxide or zinc oxide in the sunscreen will filter out blue light. Strive to have a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy foods, vitamins, and drinking enough water.
