4. Parkinson’s

Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative condition that can produce dementia similar to Alzheimer’s disease at a later stage. This disease often causes problems with movement and motor control, but can also cause dementia in some people.

5. Frontotemporal dementia

This dementia disease is dementia which refers to a group of dementias that often cause changes in personality and behavior.

6. Mixed dementia

It is a dementia where various types of brain disorders that cause dementia are present. Alzheimer’s and vascular disease are the most common types of dementia, but can include other forms of dementia.

Phases of Dementia

Dementia develops in different ways in different people. Many people will experience the following symptoms associated with the Azheimer phases:

1. Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)

MCI is a condition that can affect older people. The characteristics of MCI are marked by frequent loss of important things, forgetfulness, and difficulty speaking.

2. Mild dementia

Common symptoms of mild dementia are memory loss from recent events, personality changes, missing or misplaced things, difficulty solving complex problems, and difficulty organizing or expressing thoughts.

3. Moderate dementia

Patients with moderate dementia will need more assistance in their daily lives. Common symptoms that can occur are increased confusion, greater memory loss, needing help with activities, changes in sleep patterns, and significant changes in personality and behavior.

4. Severe dementia

Patients with severe dementia will experience a decline in mental condition and deteriorating physical abilities. Symptoms also include loss of communication skills, needing help around the clock, loss of physical abilities, and susceptibility to infections such as pneumonia.

Dementia Treatment

The diagnosis of dementia is based on several medical tests and your medical history. If you experience symptoms of dementia, your doctor will do the following:

  • Physical examination
  • Neurological test
  • Mental status test
  • Other laboratory tests to rule out other causes of symptoms

  • Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE)
  • Mini-Cog Test
