Health conditions that require pregnant women to break their fast

Windowofworld.com – Pregnant women are allowed to fast. However, there are several emergency health conditions that require pregnant women to break their fast. Anything?

Everyone can fast as long as they are physically fit, including pregnant women. However, pregnant women who want to fast must ensure their physical condition and pregnancy first.

Doctor Dyah Novita Anggraini said, “If the pregnancy is at risk of having spots or frequent cramps, nausea, and vomiting so that you cannot enter food, then it is better not to fast.

If there are no risky conditions and still want to fast, it is better if pregnant women consult their doctor first. ”

Pregnant women are also asked not to force themselves to fast. The reason is, there are several health conditions that require pregnant women to break their fast, such as:

1. Dehydration

During pregnancy, mothers are required to consume more water than usual. The reason is, water is not only needed by the mother’s body, but also for the baby in the womb.

If you cannot meet the needs of fluids during fasting, then the mother is prone to dehydration.

Dehydration can cause seizures and shock due to blood pressure that is too low.

In some of the worst cases, dehydration can cause stunted fetal development and a risk of birth defects.

In addition, dehydration can also cause the mother to faint and fall. This is dangerous because it can trigger a miscarriage.

Therefore, you need enough fluids when breaking the fast and suhoor. You can consume water, eat fruit that contains water, and coconut water as a way to prevent dehydration during fasting.

2. Dizziness

Pregnant women are allowed not to fast if they experience dizziness. There are many causes of dizziness during pregnancy. Among them can be caused by dehydration, stress, high blood pressure or low blood

If you experience dizziness, the mother is asked to break her fast to prevent unwanted things.

After breaking your fast, try eating small portions first to increase sugar levels. Then, mom can take a break and continue eating moderately.

3. Vomiting and Nausea

Vomiting and nausea are also conditions that require pregnant women to break their fasts. Just imagine if you fast then have nausea and vomiting.

This of course makes pregnant women less energetic because no calories are burned into energy. As a result, the mother can become dehydrated, weak, and then pass out.

4. Have High Blood Pressure

Pregnant women with high blood pressure conditions are expected not to fast first.

Pregnant women are not recommended to fast when experiencing symptoms, such as dizziness, trembling, swelling in several areas of the body (hands, feet), nausea, and vomiting.

Pregnant women with preeclampsia (high blood pressure during pregnancy) are required to take hypertension medication and eat regularly.

5. Babies Are No Longer Active Moving

If the fetus in the womb is no longer actively moving, pregnant women who are fasting must be vigilant. Chances are, your fetus is experiencing a lack of energy.

Then, if the baby’s number of movements or kicks is not as much as usual, then the mother is allowed to break the fast.

See also the after reaction, whether the baby is slowly starting to be active or the movements are still weak.

If the fetal movement is still less active, immediately go to the hospital to get proper treatment and examination.

Those are some conditions that make pregnant women not fast or break their fast.
