The Lurking Dangers of Inbreeding
Windowofworld.com – Incest is a sexual act committed by two people who still have family ties. Inbreeding involving children is a form of child sexual abuse. Bad effects can occur as a result of having this abnormal relationship.
Having a blood relationship can negatively affect your biological ancestry. Why? That’s because partners who are still blood-bound can carry a rare recessive gene, which if the two meet can cause congenital disease or genetic defects in the fetus. If they do not come from the same lineage, the partner will be less likely to pass on an abnormal recessive gene to the unborn child.
Physical and Psychic Effects Due to Inbreeding
Here are some bad possibilities that can occur in offspring that come from inbreeding:
- Children are at high risk of being born with genetic disorders.
- Mental disorders and intellectual disabilities.
- Congenital physical abnormalities.
If incest is a form of sexual harassment, bad effects not only stalk the offspring, but also occur to the victim (mostly women), both physically and psychologically.
Physical problems that can occur include:
- Pain in the vagina.
- Pain in the anus.
- Infection of the genitals, with symptoms such as vaginal discharge or pain when urinating.
- Have sexually transmitted diseases.
- Unwanted pregnancy.
Psychological disorders that can occur include:
- Experiencing sleep disorders.
- Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
- Have a nightmare.
- Eating disorders.
- Withdrawing from the environment.
- Drug abuse.
- Undergo sexual behavior prematurely.
- Suicide ideas or attempts.
Inbreeding which constitutes sexual harassment usually occurs between parents and biological children, but can also be between siblings or other family members. This relationship can occur repeatedly and without being noticed by other family members. Victims may remain silent and willing to be harassed because they don’t want to see their family break up.
Parents who have inbreeding sex with their own children usually have low morale and often act impulsively because they are influenced by alcoholic drinks or illegal drugs. The World Health Organization or WHO states that inbreeding in the family is more at risk of being committed by parents who, as a child, were also victims of sexual abuse by their families.
Detecting and Avoiding Inbreeding
Affection between families is indeed a sign of closeness and a natural form of relationship. However, if the feeling continues until inbreeding is established, then this is no longer normal. In Indonesia, a blood relationship is a relationship that is not recognized under the law. Even sexual acts against minors (under the age of 18 years) by family members themselves are a form of violation of the law regulated by Law no. 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law no. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection.
If you notice any unusual signs in your family, you may be suspicious of this condition. Try to approach your child, ask him carefully about what he experienced. If he seems depressed and doesn’t want to talk at the time, don’t force him. You can ask again at a later time when conditions allow.
If necessary, you can bring a relative or child who is suspected of having a blood relationship to consult a doctor and get further tests. If there is a strong indication that there is a blood relationship related to sexual harassment, then this needs to be followed up by the authorities.
