Jimi Hendrix is the # 1 Rock and Roll Star
Jimi Hendrix is the # 1 Rock and Roll Star of all timesall the time
I’ve thrown my lifeand I admit it’s a bit difficult to put Jimi Hendrix over Mick Jagger in terms of brilliant rock and roll star but after watching several movies from Jimi and Mick, that’s why I would do it:
- BEST MUSIC
Jimi Hendrix was the only true genius in rock and roll. The word genius is very overused and it is often applied to people who are extremely talented. I do not agree with the dictionary when comparing it with “exceptional intelligence”, and what I think the word genius is supposed to refer to is a person who creates something new, not just new, but significantly new , important and somewhat of a milestone in human development. I call Albert Einstein the excellent genius of the human race because Relativity Theory was a giant leap in understanding the way in which our universe functions and, to date, few people really understand nothing but the bomb part. Jimi Hendrix was the genius of rock and roll, because he was the only one who invented something new. It’s almost impossible to do anything really new in the field of music, because there are only eight notes in the Western scale, so in all respects all music is derived. But Jimi found guitar feedback and nobody before Jimi thought about it. And Jimi took his invention one step further. Until Jimi has come, all music has been built upon agreement between Mozart and Beethoven and rock and roll music uses simple string structure. Jimi actually uses feedback solely to build song structure in some, but not all his songs (ie Third Stone of the Sun). Until today nobody was able to do what Jimi did. In fact, Jeff Beck bought an auction of Jimi’s strata and even the super talented Jeff acknowledged that he could not get the same sounds from Jimi’s same guitar. With all respect for Mick, he is a brilliant singer and one of the best rock and roll songwriters, but he’s not really a brilliant musician, because he’s just playing a rhythm guitar. I believe Mick will agree with Jimi as a genius guitarist because Mick was one of the first to discover Jimi when The Experience made their debut at London clubs. Together with John Lennon, Mick spreads the word to the other British musicians about the new nova in the rock and roll sky.
- BEST PERFORMANCE
This is a tie between Jimi and Mick. Call it a dead heat with a survivor. If Elvis still breathes, he’ll both breathe their necks and I’ll probably get a lot of people to say that, and even more of Madonna’s, Prince’s (whoever he’s) days and Michael Jackson not to mention Roberta FLACK). Elvis was certainly the first and Elvis was The King, but Jimi and Mick both had their own unique styles, and not one was heavily influenced by Elvis in terms of their performances. Mick was influenced by James Brown’s dance and only God knows who influenced Jimi’s style of execution because he was truly an original. In addition, Elvis performed further and he played in average underneath movies – and now I’m really flack! Unfortunately, I do not get Roberta. Mick deserves an award to make a good show every time he appears, making it right as a young man, and he did it as an old man. Jimi died as a young man. Both were sex stars on stage as well as stage, but watching Jimi on stage is nothing short of breathtaking. He had all the movements, he had the look of a black adonis, he played his guitar under his leg, behind his back, and when he burned at the end of his performances He bent on his knees and prayed to the guitar god who listened to him. He was not a dancer like Mick, he was a rider and a shaker of women’s “G” spots. People in front of his scene all have the same astonishing expression on their faces as if to say, “I can not believe this man! What galaxy did he come from?”
- SONG WRITING TALENT
“And the wind cried out Mary.” Oh, Jimi, how poetic can you be? So the galactic storm “Jimi” shouted, and what heterosexual man in his true mind does not want that “Foxy Lady”? I suspect that a man who may not recognize one in a Purple Haze, and a man in a state of ‘Manic Depression’ may not be able to get out of bed and do something about it , but every time Jimi begins with Foxy Lady with his famous dissonant E-string. My libido stands up and salutes. And every time I hear that the classic return note in the middle of the song passes by, it never fails to make my spine grow up. Comparisons with other songwriters are unnecessary. Jimi, of course, wrote more than a few great rock and songs, almost always saying something important, and he always said it in a poetic way.
- SINGING TALENT
As a professional rock-and-roll singer, it’s from time to time at Mick. Oh, I’ll get big arguments about it, but people who would argue the point do not understand rock and roll singing. It’s not about scope, power or technical perfection. It’s all about emotion and style. Mick knows how to sing without necessarily using words. Like Robert Plant, he often uses sounds alone to express emotions. A case in point is “Going Home” on the Aftermath album which consists of 11 minutes of Mick with sex with a microphone. Jimi Hendrix was actually embarrassed by his own song because he as a great musician recognized and understood the great singers. In the recording studio he was the guitar master, but he recorded his choir over and over again until he could get something he could live with. But I put Jimi in the same class as Bob Marley and Bob Dylan. These are wonderful artists who were all perfectly able to place their own unique songs in a way that no-one else can. I’m not a fan of Dylan’s voice and when they recorded The Byrds Dylan songs, they did a good job, but they had Dylan’s sarcasm and his almost bored feeling with his own poetic shine. I’m a big fan of Bob Marley and I like his voice, but I admit he’s not a good singer. It just happens that I love Jimi’s voice. I hear Bob Dylan’s influence and I know Jimi was a fan of Bob’s voice and his lyrics. But Jimi did a very unusual voice and in the theater it is called a ‘one side’. Jimi had a wonderful habit of turning off few words. He often interrupted himself while singing and it came down as COOL. When it comes to singers, people like them or not, and all I can say is that Jimi’s voice works for me as a professional singer.
- SEXUAL AURA
Every rock star has this. Jimi had too much of it for one man. I’m totally heterosexual, but I’m wowed at the sexual aura that surrounds Jimi on film. I was fortunate to see him personally once and I can testify that he was as hot as it is possible that one is in the flesh. There are an abundant number of women who would be willing to testify to Jimi’s abilities in the bedroom.
So, it’s not necessary to be a good musician to be a rock star just as there’s no need to be a good actor to be a movie star. It should be obvious and there are too many examples in both fields to start them taking note of. But Jimi was a genius guitarist, a unique and atomic artist, a good songwriter, a very good singer, a super nova sexster and a world-class personality above all. That’s why I call Jimi Hendrix the number one rock star of all time.
