All participants did 30 minutes of treadmill exercise at moderate speed for a comparison of the number of calories burned. The results showed that men burned an average of 101 calories (4.2 cal / minute) in a 24-minute session. Women burn 69 calories (3.1 cal / minute). The mean intensity was 6.0 METS in men and 5.6 METS in women, which means moderate intensity.

During a moderate-intensity 30-minute treadmill session, men burned 276 calories and women 213 calories. The energy use during sexual activity is the same for men and women when compared. This means that sex burns calories, but not as many calories as moderate intensity exercise.

Another study published in the New England Journal of Medicine even says that claims that sex burns calories is considered excessive. This study tested men weighing 70 kg. As a result, there was only 3.5 cal / minute burned (210 cal / hour), during periods of stimulation and orgasm sessions with low intensity.

This means that the calorie burn that occurs is the same as that resulting from moderate-speed walking. Meanwhile, studies say that the sex session lasts only 6 minutes or burns about 21 calories.

Tips for Sex to Burn More Calories

Based on the study above, the average sexual activity will not burn many calories, unless you try the following tips.

The longer the sex session, rationally means the more sex burns your calories.
