US Parliament: The Covid-19 Pandemic could have been prevented if China was more transparent
Windowofworld.com – The novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic could have been prevented if the Chinese government acted more transparently and the World Health Organization (WHO) did not become involved in spreading and normalizing their propaganda during the early days of the outbreak. That is the conclusion of the audit report of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the United States Parliament (US).
The 96-page report written by Republican politicians on the committee calls for WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom to resign over the devastating effects of his response to the Covid-19 pandemic. (Read: Xi Jinping: China Passes the Incredible and Historical Covid-19 Exam)
The report was obtained by the New York Post on Monday before being released for the time planned for the next few days.
“There is no doubt that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is actively engaged in a cover-up designed to obfuscate data, hide relevant public health information, and pressure doctors and journalists trying to warn the world,” reads the report.
“Research shows the CCP can reduce the number of cases in China by up to 95 percent if it fulfills its obligations under international law and responds to the outbreak in a manner consistent with best practice,” the report continued. “It is very likely that the ongoing pandemic could have been prevented.”
The report said on January 1, Chinese officials ordered that the Wuhan wet market where the virus is believed to have originated be closed and sanitized. “Destroy forensic evidence that may have provided insight into the origin of the outbreak,” the report said.
The next day, the report continued, scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology found that the coronavirus was highly contagious but did not immediately notify the WHO.
The document also accused WHO of ignoring warnings from Taiwan and Hong Kong about the risk of human-to-human transmission and then falsely claiming for weeks that Chinese researchers found no evidence of it happening.
“From the early stages of the outbreak, WHO, under the leadership of Director General Tedros, imitated and upheld as inviolable truth, a statement from the CCP,” wrote the New York Post, Tuesday (9/27/2020), citing the committee’s report.
An examination of their public statements, including praise given to the CCP’s handling of the pandemic, revealed a disturbing willingness to ignore science and reliable alternative sources.
“Director General Tedros must accept responsibility for his adverse impact on the Covid-19 response and resign,” continued the report by the US Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Relations.
The document says Parliament committee member, Michael McCaul, received a letter from Tedros in July in which he insisted that the WHO respond to the coronavirus in a timely and impartial manner.
President Trump, when asked about the committee’s report Monday morning on “Fox & Friends” said he was angry with China “because they could stop this,” he said.
“They can stop it easily,” Trump continued. “They stopped him from going further into their country, but they didn’t stop him from going around the world of which we are a part. They didn’t stop him from coming here and Europe and the rest of the world. ”
A WHO spokesman told Fox News the organization is aware of the reports and will review them carefully.
The Chinese Embassy in Washington DC has not responded to media requests for comment on the committee’s report.
