War continues, Armenia attacks the Mingachevir city of Azerbaijan
Windowofworld.com – The Armenia armed forces launched missile attacks on Azerbaijan industrial city of Mingachevir on Sunday evening. This missile attack occurred when the war between the two countries over the Nagorno-Karabakh region continued to rage.
“Mingachevir is a major water reservoir and power plant. An expression of barbaric despair,” said assistant president of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev, on Twitter as quoted by Reuters, Monday (5/10/2020).
The Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense confirmed the attacks on the cities of Mingachevir and Terter, with several people reportedly injured. Meanwhile, the Armenian party denied carrying out the attack. Armenia also has not reported any attacks on its territory.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan President Ilhwam Aliyev offered a ceasefire to Armenia, but with a number of conditions. These conditions included that Yerevan had to apologize, recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as a territory of Azerbaijan and withdraw all Armenian troops from the conflict area.
“Their Prime Minister, who said that Karabakh is Armenia, must now say that Karabakh is not Armenia. And after that, of course, we are ready to end hostilities and restore a ceasefire regime,” he continued in a statement.
Repeating the claim that Azerbaijan has captured a number of settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh, Aliyev vowed to keep fighting until the entire territory is recaptured.
“We managed to liberate some territories, several villages and today we liberated the city of Jabrayil, which was under Armenian occupation for 27 years. Our successful military operations continue, and we are fully determined to free our land and restore our territorial integrity, “he explained.
